About Us

INTRODUCTORY SECTION

We are a small family run Funeral Directors, offering the full range of services, both 'green' and traditional for burial, cremation or the burial of ashes. (We own and operate 'Herongate Wood', a beautiful woodland cemetery in Brentwood, Essex.) Our telephones are manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

As a family company, we offer a personal service and are here to help and support you through the practicalities of laying a loved one to rest. We will be pleased to complete any necessary forms for you, or with you, and our personal service will ensure that you receive every assistance with decisions and arrangements. Many choose to purchase a double plot so as to be re-united with their partner and rest together, forever, within this lovely setting.

Our aim is to provide a dignified and caring funeral in a beautiful landscape. Many come to WWCC for a less formal, more relaxed funeral, without the need to ‘hurry'. Many of the trappings of a traditional funeral may not be required by the family but are all available from WWCC. We ask that every family complete a 'feedback' form immediately after the funeral so that the high standards we set ourselves can be maintained. Some of the comments from the feedback forms are re-produced for your information under 'frequently asked questions'. Click here to take you there directly.

At Woodland and Wildlife, any tradition or belief can be accommodated (religious or non-religious). You are free to use and personalize our Hall of Remembrance at Herongate Wood, with flowers, photographs etc., prior to the funeral, without additional cost.

If you wish to plan ahead for yourself and your family, you may pre-book plots either as a single, double or groups. Click here for more information. Please ask us about Funeral Plans for you and your family to fix the cost at today's level, regardless of future inflation.

SOME REASONS WHY WE WENT 'GREEN'

We, at Woodland and Wildlife, joined the natural or 'green' burial movement because we wished to preserve some of the existing countryside for future generations. We have a serious concern that, piece by piece, the countryside will be developed so that in only 30/40 years there will be no green spaces left in the South-East of England.

The term 'green burial' means an eco-friendly burial in a wood or meadow so as to create and protect wildlife habitat. Where families prefer cremation, rather than burial, we can arrange for an unhurried service to be held in our Hall of Remembrance at Herongate Wood, followed by cremation at a local crematorium. The ashes can then be buried at Herongate Wood, in a separate ceremony, a short time later.

Around you and those you love, a beautiful landscape will be created and preserved forever. We plan that no grave will ever be re-used or disturbed so that those who lie here will 'Rest in Peace' in the truest sense of the words.

These woods and meadows will provide a green refuge for birds and wild flowers to flourish. Young trees are being planted across the area used for burials, extending the wood. They will be places of life, filled with colour and birdsong.
